As many of you will hopefully be aware, we have been trying to recruit new volunteers to our group. All Scout groups like many other youth organisations are run by volunteers, with a variety of different skills and time they can offer to help from running meetings to working behind the scenes. Reaching half term we have to be completely honest and say we so far have a number of areas we are lacking volunteers. All of our leaders and committee members volunteer their time to run the different areas.
First area we need help in is Beavers. We have been running this on a temporary basis since the end of September. Currently we have one full-time assistant leader who has most responsibility with our former leader running the sessions to build up Beavers. We have a regular parent help and our Group Scout Leader has been there helping. But this is not a long-term team, and we do need to recruit a team of permanent volunteers to be able to continue to run Beavers. Our current leadership team will not be able to continue into the future without some new people becoming leaders, as pre pandemic we kept being in this situation. Thank you to Sue for returning to help us and Peter for keeping the group going behind the scenes.
Scouts are also looking for new leaders, particularly as the Section Leader
Alex will be leaving us at Christmas, along with Gemma. Our other leaders here are continuing but do need extra volunteers to help them continue the section. Thank you to Maddie, Lauren and Joe for their continuing support.
In Cubs we would like to thank Rose for her support as a section assistant as she is stepping down. We are looking for a new assistant leader to supporting our leaders Anna and Andrea, who we thank for all their work.
On our committee we do still require a Treasurer, Secretary and Parent Representatives.
Below are details about Remembrance Weekend events including the Parade. Another reason for the delay in this is our limited leader numbers have restricted numbers of children we can take. As noted above we have spent time doing a full risk assessment with Covid mitigations to enable us to take part in this event. We recognise that as this is a higher risk event, you may want to make your own judgements on the situation.Â
