Many of you will be aware we normally do Poppy Selling with encouraging our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to take part. Trying to run this as normal with Covid mitigations has been decided as not possible due to close proximity to general public, but a small group of leaders will be overseeing a stall. The public will pick up poppies and donate from, supporting the Royal British Legion based at the War Memorial on Saturday 13th November between 11am and 2pm. We hope that next year we will be able to do this with children helping, but hope you appreciate that we cannot run this as normal with appropriate mitigations.
Then on Sunday 14th November we will be taking part with parading along Watling Street, with other Scouts and Guides to the War Memorial and take part in the Act of Remembrance. As noted above we have had to put in a number of Covid mitigations, which are noted below, we will also send these separately out as well. Please could your child attend in his uniform with a poppy, if cold please wear extra layers under the uniform so it can be seen, rather than hidden under a coat. We will meet at the Radlett Centre at 10:15 ready to march to the War Memorial at 10.30, where the service will begin at 10:45. This is an opportunity for us as a Scout group to be seen working in the community. Our Covid mitigations include:
Limiting numbers per section, maximum 15 (depending on leader-child ratio available)
Face coverings advised for adults
Social distancing to be maintained where possible
We will not take the Scouts up to the barrier of the War Memorial but stand spread out on the other side of the road outside former Nat West bank
Attendance will be monitored by events on OSM, so please confirm on here if your child is attending
Hand sanitiser is available and encouraged for all attendees.
Note there are no toilet facilities available during the event.
