Reminder about Remembrance Weekend 2019

As usual the group will be busy over Remembrance weekend. Also please do remember that we do still need help on our Group Executive with roles needed including Treasurer, Fundraisers, Building Maintenance and Stores Master.

Poppy Selling

We will selling poppies in Watling Street in aid of Royal British Legion on Saturday 9th November. We will be based by the War Memorial.  We will be selling between 11am and 2pm, so Beavers, Cubs and Scouts could come for ½ hour or 1 hour slots in uniform. Anyone under 14 will need an adult with them, some leaders will be present but any parents who can help would be greatly appreciated.

Act of Remembrance

Then on Sunday 10th November we will again be parading along Watling Street, with other Scouts and Guides to the War Memorial and take part in the Act of Remembrance.  Please could your child attend in their uniform with a poppy, if cold please wear extra layers under the uniform so it can be seen, rather than hidden under a coat. We will meet at the Christ Church from 10:00 ready to march to the War Memorial at 10.15 where the service will begin at 10:45. This is an opportunity for us as a Scout group to be seen working in the community, so it would be good to see as many Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as possible. We also need some people to help with marshalling at the War Memorial, please let us know if you are able to do this.
