Once our extensive renovations on the scout hut are completed over the summer, all sections will be able to enjoy the benefits of the refurbished premises. However, we need something more important than just physical facilities. The group needs adult volunteers in order to thrive.
The new volunteers for the Scout Group enabled us to reopen the section in January and is providing a fabulous opportunity for local boys and girls aged 10 - 14 to learn new skills, build confidence and self esteem, broaden their friendship group and learn to love the outdoors. We want to ensure we continue to provide these experiences for children aged 6 - 10. We urgently need more volunteers to step forward to ensure the Beavers and Cubs sections remain open.
- Beavers (children aged 6-8)
- Cubs (children aged 8-10)
You do not need previous scouting experience as there is plenty of support on offer and opportunities to learn the practical and organisational skills before taking on responsibility when you are ready.
Also, after seven years on the Executive Committee and five of those as Chair, I am stepping down in July. It is a fabulous opportunity for someone who doesn’t feel that can make a commitment to a regular night with the children, but can work with the Executive Committee to provide the administrative support and oversight the group needs.
