Schopwick Event - Sunday 16 June - 2-5pm - Schopwick House, Elstree Hill
Scouting and Guiding event to celebrate 100 years of Scouting and Guiding in Radlett. The cost of the event is £5 for all children and parking for the event is at St Nicholas C of E’s Car Park, Elstree. The event is for families with their children, particularly their fathers being Father's Day. There will be a range of different bases for families to go around. The afternoon will conclude with a Coming Together with cake and some words will be said. From 4:30pm families will enjoy their picnics in the gardens.
We would be great to see as many young people attend as possible, but we do need numbers and ideally forms this week. Leaders will be running bases so we may not be able to look after unaccompanied members so would like to encourage families to attend some or all of this special event. If only your young person is able to attend, maybe ask around if anyone can supervise them. Please also state on these forms the number of family members attending.
Full uniform must be worn by all children. Wear sensible shoes for active outdoor activities (some woodland trails etc). Bring a picnic tea, plenty of drinks and waterproofs/sunhats/suncream as appropriate to the weather conditions at the time. Families should bring a picnic for the end of the celebrations to enjoy in the gardens.
All former members and friends are welcome to join us, although more suited to those who are still more local to Radlett, for browsing from 3pm and joining for the Coming Together from 4-5pm. There will be refreshments for these guests. Please do let us know if you would like to attend this by contacting us on centenary.1stradlett@gmail.com.
Centenary Celebration - Saturday 29 June - from 3pm - our headquarters Kent Lodge
1st Radlett are holding a Centenary Celebration inviting former members and friends, with their families or relations, of the Group over its 100 years. All former members and friends are invited and they can register there attendance by our Centenary Website or by contacting centenary.1stradlett@gmail.com. We need the numbers so we can cater for the event.
Guests are invited to attend any time from 3pm, we will start with afternoon tea, have some short speeches and cutting of Centenary cake at around 5:30pm, time to be confirmed. There will be drinks and a BBQ in the evening. It will be mainly a get together talking with former members on their experiences and looking through old photos.
We would like to see as many members on the day as particularly the guests coming from afar would love to see as many current members on the day. The style of the event means that it will be more suitable for Scouts and older Cubs (as there will not be specific organised activities for children which may be difficult for younger members), although it would be great if many can come along for at least a short time. We need the numbers so we can cater for the event, so if current members expect to be there for food if they can register as well that would be helpful.
It would be useful if anyone is available to help with the running of the day, with the BBQ, drinks, greeting guests etc. If anyone is able please contact Jackie on info@1stradlettscouts.org.uk.
