Visit of Namibian Delegation to the University of Mauritius

On Thursday 18 May 2023, we had the pleasure of welcoming a Delegation from Namibia comprising six Members of Parliament and one Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Resources and Community Development at the University of Mauritius.  The Delegation was in Mauritius in the context of a benchmarking tour/study visit to learn about best practices with regard to programmes, strategies and interventions aimed at alleviating and addressing the problem of youth unemployment.

The UoM Senior Management Team met with the Delegation and shared its experiences and the various measures and schemes that the University has implemented to enhance graduate employability, one of the priority objectives of UoM. The Delegation was apprised of the various facilities provided by Government to Mauritian students to enable them to complete their tertiary studies, such as free tertiary education and free transport, among others.

UoM’s commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, including students with disabilities was also highlighted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of the Delegation suggested the possibility that Representatives from Namibian Universities could visit UoM for a benchmarking exercise in the near future.
