Participation in the AAUN Australia Forum

As the UoM Vice-Chancellor, I was nominated by the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN) Africa Secretariat to represent AAUN Africa at the AAUN Australia Forum held from 04 to 05 September 2023 at Curtin University, Perth, Australia.

Issues such as exchanges of scientific research and diplomacy, the science Diaspora and their role in serving as resources as well as the opportunities to strengthen cross-sectoral partnerships by integrating multidisciplinary research were on the agenda.

I chaired the session “The Role of AAUN and Universities in Deepening Australia-Africa Cooperation”.

Ambassadors were also invited to the event.

The Forum provided a valuable opportunity to build on the rich discussions and avenues of the May 2023 AAUN Forum and also to further explore and strengthen the strategic importance of this platform.
