New partnership between the University of Mauritius and CIEL Textile 

The University and CIEL Textile have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for privileged collaboration in research and professional training.  The signing ceremony was held on Wednesday 03 May 2023 at the UoM Campus, Réduit.

This new partnership with CIEL Textile will further consolidate a well-established academia-industry partnership, which is an important part of the strategic objective of both parties. An important aspect of this agreement is the internship of UoM students in CIEL Textile companies, which is in line with the University’s strategic objective to enhance the employability of its graduates. 

This partnership is an excellent opportunity for UoM students to readily put into practice the knowledge acquired during their university studies.  UoM Graduates will be better prepared for the world of work when they have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with its realities beforehand and discover the various career opportunities offered by the textile industry.  Collaborating with CIEL Textile also allows UoM to have a better understanding of the needs of the Textile Industry and to better support the transformation of this economic sector by putting UoM’s research expertise at the service of the development of a flagship industry in the country.

The collaboration includes the involvement of Leaders from CIEL Textile in activities organised by the University for its students, such as guest lectures, workshops, conferences or career days.  In addition, UoM students will be able to participate in seminars and workshops organised by CIEL Textile.  They will also have the opportunity to participate in mutually beneficial research projects, particularly those aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the textile industry.

We look forward to a real synergy between the UoM and CIEL Textiles to promote innovation through the transfer of research results to the Industry.
