UoM Youth Against Drugs

During the workshop on Youth Against Drugs organised by the UoM Computer Club Students on Tuesday 04 February, Prof Jhurry enumerated the measures taken in view of discouraging Youth in being tempted to take drugs on campus.

· Introduction of a set of signage on campus

· Installation of Cameras in strategic areas on campus

· Improvement in the services of the Psychologists on campus through:

Relocation of the office where consultations were being held

Increase the frequency of the Psychological services on campus with a specific slot

where they will be providing their services two days per week

Proper recording of cases by the psychologists and statistics on cases provided to Senior Management.

· Encourage anonymous disclosure of information

· Regular monthly seminars/talks by resource persons from the Police/ADSU, etc. for a targeted group of students to enhance participation

· Poster competition on the theme “Zero Tolerance for Drugs”

· Meeting with ADSU to assess the extent of the problem

Vice Chancellor also emphasised on the sense of responsibility of Students who should have at heart their studies and making the most of their university life without putting at risk their future.

The Guest Speaker, Honorable Kailesh Singh JUGATPAL, Minister of Health and Wellness insisted on the understanding of the psychological amd sociological factors than that lead Youth to drug addiction in order to curtail the problem.

Students emphasized the fact that prevention is better than cure and that at UoM they are definitely against Drugs.
