Meeting with the University of Mauritius Academic Staff Union (UMASU) - Monday 20 March 2017

The Vice-Chancellor met with Executive Members of the UMASU in his office.

He reiterated his vision for taking the University of Mauritius to greater heights, through quality curriculum, vibrant research, stronger impact on the national level and closer service to the community.

Issues discussed at the meeting pertained to the adoption of the Total Workload Model for academics and its pilot implementation, the proposed mechanism for allocation of research funds and the introduction of a Research Assessment Exercise to gauge the research status at the UoM before considering the Research Credit policy.

Both Management and UMASU have agreed on working together in the interest of the institution and in enhancing academics’ contribution to research.
