25 April 2022 – Meeting with the Delegation from Stellenbosch University, South Africa

A delegation from Stellenbosch University, South Africa, comprising Pieter Willem Kloppers, Director of the Centre of Student Communities, Minette Sieberhagen, Jethro George Georgiades, Lisinda Mariana Niemand and Norma Marlene Derby-Marco visited the University of Mauritius in April 2022.

The visit aimed at benchmarking the best practices in terms of support services and opportunities offered to commuting students.

As African Universities, both UoM and Stellenbosch University aim to provide commuter students with world-class support and opportunities. Both institutions believe that combined knowledge will allow earmarking the best practices and providing students with the vital structures that can develop holistic world citizens.

A half-day brainstorming session was held between members from Stellenbosch University and UoM staff from various Departments and members of the UoM Students Union.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor met members of the Delegation on 25 April 2022.
