We had the honour and privilege of welcoming, at the University of Mauritius, Her Excellency Shrimati Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India during her official visit to Mauritius as the Guest of Honour for the National Day Celebrations. This was in the context of a Ceremony organised by the University of Mauritius for the Conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Civil Law Honoris Causa upon Her Excellency Shrimati Droupadi Murmu, held in the Paul Octave Wiéhé Auditorium on Tuesday 12 March 2024.
Smt. Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of the Republic of India on 25 July 2022. She was the Governor of Jharkand from 2015 to 2021. Smt. Murmu was the first woman tribal Governor of a tribal-majority State. She received wide appreciation for upholding the values of the Constitution and supporting the rights of the tribal communities. She has devoted her life to empowering the downtrodden and the marginalized sections and deepening the democratic values. More information on the Her Excellency Smt.
