The Ted Rogers School IT Department aims to support faculty and staff with their office computer equipment; however, it cannot cover every hardware and software combination. On-site servicing agreements exist with vendors like Dell, HP, and Lexmark, but only for specific models.
The list below outlines the supported hardware at TMU/Ted Rogers School and should guide your equipment purchases. If you buy hardware not on this list, you will be responsible for handling repairs and compatibility issues directly with your vendor, both in and out of warranty. Purchasing unsupported equipment is at your own risk.
This equipment is fully compatible with Toronto Metropolitan University’s infrastructure, and warranty repairs are handled on-site at the university.
Laptops: Dell Latitude and Precision models ONLY - other Dell models are NOT supported.
Desktops: Dell Optiplex and Precision models ONLY - other Dell models are NOT supported.
Monitors: Dell P and U series Monitors are fully supported. Other brands can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
Printers: Hewlett Packard (HP) and Lexmark colour and monochrome laser printers only. Inkjet printers are NOT supported. For workgroup/departmental printer recommendations, please consult the Ted Rogers School Help Desk.
Servers: Dell PowerEdge servers are supported, but other brands/models can be accommodated. Please contact Lauren Di Mambro, Manger, IT (lauren.dimambro@torontomu.ca) to discuss your server needs.
We will do our best to support these products, but their performance is not guaranteed. You may need to deal with your vendor and/or equipment manufacturer in the event of problems or if repairs are needed.
Apple Products: Toronto Metropolitan University offers partial support for Apple products such as iMacs and MacBooks. Therefore, Ted Rogers School requires purchasing AppleCare extended warranty for all Apple desktops and laptops. While we will do our best to assist you on-site, some issues may require you to visit the Apple Store’s Genius Bar, conveniently located in the Eaton Centre.
Accessories: Items such as scanners, external hard drives, wireless keyboards and mice can be recommended on a case-by-case basis. Generally only limited support is available for these items. Please consult the Ted Rogers School Help Desk for details.
