Each school and department within the Ted Rogers School is allocated a budget and is responsible for ordering their own toner cartridges, with a few exceptions. If you need assistance installing toner, Help Desk staff are available— simply call extension 557455 or email bizhelp@torontomu.ca . Departments have the flexibility to choose their preferred toner suppliers. Below, you’ll find money-saving tips for ordering toner, along with a list of trusted suppliers we have successfully worked with in the past.
Always choose high-yield cartridges when available for your printer. Although their upfront cost is higher, the cost per page is much lower compared to standard, lower-yield cartridges.
Be cautious when purchasing "house brand" or generic cartridges. Poor-quality cartridges can lead to inferior print results and may even damage your printer. Most warranties do not cover damage caused by non-OEM toners, and Computing and Communication Services (CCS) charges an hourly rate for repairs related to such damage.
For colour printers, always use toner branded by the printer manufacturer. The Ted Rogers School Help Desk has had negative experiences with non-branded toner in colour printers, so this practice is strongly discouraged.
If your printer is still under warranty (typically within one year of purchase), we highly recommend using the manufacturer's recommended toner to ensure warranty coverage remains valid.
The following information summarizes the suppliers we have found to be good over the years. Toner prices vary, and no one supplier has the best price for all printers, so it pays to shop around.
