Faculty loading is the assignment of teaching (ie. the scheduling of courses), for Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) faculty and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Unit 1 Instructors. The guidelines for faculty loading originate within the respective Collective Agreements.
The TAI system is an integrated system that includes data from scheduling (room information), MyServiceHub (enrollment data) and eHR (job data) to enable administrative staff to participate in the course offering process. Using the system, administrators are able to create course offerings, assign faculty members to courses and enter scheduling data for any mode of delivery for academic courses. Courses will not be mounted onto MyServiceHub unless entered into TAI. The system simplifies the faculty teaching assignments and provides online reporting to stakeholders on all faculty loading. This helpful guide and brochure details some of the terminology, background information and a visual timeline of deadlines used in faculty loading and the TAI system.
You can find TAI under your apps. Please contact Nancy Amaral, Manager of Administration, Ted Rogers School to request access to the system by email at namaral@torontomu.ca.
For access to the Teaching Assignment Integration (TAI) Dashboard, please use this link to access your Pentaho Dashboard.
Online help is available for the TAI system with instructions on how to use the system. The User Productivity Kit (UPK) content also includes the Print It! mode should you wish to print a job aid for each task within the TAI system. The UPK content can be accessed by clicking the Help button within the system itself.
The following manuals are available below to assist staff with the entering of data within the TAI system as well as assist Chairs/Directors/Deans with approval of data within the TAI system.
Teaching Workload Process- User Guide - This document explains how to input and report the number of courses credited for each faculty member towards their total workload.
Teaching Assignment Approval Process - User Guide - This document explains how staff submit their Department/School faculty loading in TAI and how Chairs/Directors/Grad Directors, Deans approve their faculty loading in TAI.
Online TAI User Guide - Complete UPK online user guide as mentioned above.
This Guide shows you how to manually match/link SAS Section numbers with those that did not match with the TAI section numbers in the Teaching Assignment Screen. This is what we call the "paperclip" screen.
The Toronto Metropolitan Classroom Capacities shows the list of available rooms across campus as well as their corresponding max classroom size. Chairs/Directors should view this list when planning loading and making section size change decisions. Please note that most labs are not included in this list.
