The HR system enables the processing of various forms of compensation for non-employees. They include Guest Lecturers, External Honorarium payments (token payments) and Periodic Program Review Payments (PPR).
Guest Lecturers at TMU are typically unpaid, however in some circumstances they may be paid an honorarium of no more than $500 dollars. In the event that an honorarium is needed for a Guest Lecturer, the following processes are to be followed based on the respective type of guest lecturer as per the details below.
Guest lecturers are normally entered into eAppoint with a Part-Time/Casual Employee Contract Form. This must be signed by the guest lecturer and the Department Chair/Director. In the event the guest lecturer cannot sign the form, an email in lieu of signature can be added. Please send all Part-Time/Casual Employee Contract Forms to Carrie Wiebe, Executive Director, Strategic Planning & Administration, Office of the Dean.
If the guest lecturer is a non-resident, a non-resident payment form must be filled out. Instructions to complete this form can be found on the AskHR site.
Honorariums are token payments for non-employees. These payments are not intended to reflect the value of work or time spent.
These payments must be entered in the HR system in eAppoint; select "Token Payment" as the employee group.
Use EXHONR as the Job Code and 6559 as the account code.
PPR payments are also non-employee payments.
Please review the Periodic Program Review page for processing details.
