Periodic Program Review (PPR) is a quality assurance process that all undergraduate and graduate programs are required to undergo every eight years. PPRs are informed by the Institutional Quality Assurance Process, established by the Ontario Universities Council of Ontario.
Critical to the success of a PPR is the completion of the self-study report, which provides an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive review of a program, including: the articulation of program objectives and learning outcomes, extensive curriculum mapping, a review of human, physical and financial resources, collection and analysis of data related to quality indicators, and integration of stakeholder survey results.
Following the completion of the self-study report, a Peer Review Team is invited to participate in a site visit and meet with the program’s faculty, staff, students and alumni. The visit results in the submission of a PRT Report, which contributes to the program’s implementation plan. The full guide to PPRs can be found here.
Oversight of PPRs is the responsibility of the Curriculum Quality Assurance Office. The CQA Office will make contact with programs that are scheduled to begin PPRs and assign a Curriculum Specialist to support programs throughout the process. The schedule of PPRs can be found here.
