Peek-a-Boo

Flower

The subject of this image is someone’s hair with a flower in it. To edit this image I took an image of a flower and pasted onto the model's hair. I then took a plain pink image and changed the opacity to 25%. There is a lot of space on the sides of the subject which helps to maintain the focus on the model. Even though there is a lot of space, the image is still interesting because the background has texture and different shades of color. There are many different patterns throughout the image. The background has a pattern through the wood paneling. There is also a pattern in the hair of the model as well as the flower. One composition technique in this image is formal balance. The image is almost perfectly symmetrical and balanced. This image also encompasses high key lighting. This helps to create a lighter mood throughout the image as well as expressing the story more effectively. When creating this image I made the decision to not use the rule of thirds. Because of the direction I wanted to go in with this image, I thought that moving the model to either the right or left would have left too much blank space on one side. If the background was more interesting than the rule of thirds would have worked. When I started taking photos for this project I had taken a completely different image but the lighting was awkward and dull. Not only that, but the background was a teal blue which was not working with the image. This image conveys an upbeat emotion. To me, it is showing some summer vibes because of the brightness. I think the image tells a story about love. With the pink undertones and the flower I just get a loving vibe. I do not think that there is a specific story being told. If I were to re-do this image I would try to take the photo either outside or find a more interesting background that does tell a story. Those few changes would make this image 10 times better.
