Target

The subject of my photograph is a dart target. To create this image I pointed the camera up at the darts on the dartboard. I then processed the film and created a contact print. Then I enlarged the print exposing it for 10 seconds at F8. I created this photograph because it showed repetition in two ways. This photograph contains pattern in the repetition of color around the dartboard. It also contains a color contrast which adds an interesting background to the photograph.

The main composition technique in my photograph is repetition. It has repetition in 2 places; in the dartboard pattern and in the darts. I also contains the rule of thirds. Both of the main parts of the photograph are in 1/3 of the frame. In the beginning I was attempting to enlarge the image with Christmas lights in it, but the photograph wasn't coming out how I wanted it to. Therefore I changed to this photograph.

I think that the meaning of this image is that sometimes everything just falls into place. The darts are all grouped together in the center of the target. The center of the target represents the goals you have and the darts represent all the steps you take to reach your goals. If I could change anything about this image it would be that the center of the image was not completely white. I wish I would have exposed the image for longer to make the center darker. I would also like the image to be more in focus, but I think I moved when I took the picture and that is why it is so blurry. I think that this is my worst photograph out of all of my photographs.
