Cozy Days

The subject of this image is a dog in a blanket. To edit this photo I increased the brightness, the exposure, and the highlights while decreasing the shadows and contrast. An element in this image is texture. There is a lot of texture in the blanket in the background. A principle in this image is balance. There is a balance in the image because the weight of the dogs head and body are on opposite sides of the image. A composition technique in this image is high key lighting. By adding brightness to the image, the white blend together making the different colors of the dogs head stand out. Another composition technique in this image is sharp focus. By doing this you can see all the detail of the blanket, but your focus is still on the dog.I am not really sure what the story behind this image is. I think that it can mean different things to different people. For some people, it might show distraction because the dog is always looking off the frame. For other people, it might show love and loyalty because that is what dogs usually represent. I see this image as showing comfort and safeness. I have always felt comforted and safe around my dog because he knows when I am sad and tries to make me feel better. He has also always tried to protect from everything that he could. If I could re-do this image I would take a picture of someone inside of a trashcan, which was my original idea, because I think that it has a deeper meaning.
