Complementary Color

Sled

The subject of my image is someone sitting in a sledding tube, but you can only see a corner of the subject. To edit this image I increased the saturation and contrast so the complementary colors would stand out more. I also brightened the highlights and darkened the shadows to give more texture to the image. To finish the edit, I cropped the sides of the image so the background was just snow and so that the handle of the sled was on the â…“ line. An element of design in this image is texture. There is a lot of texture in the jacket as well as the tube where the fabric/plastic fold. A composition technique in this image is selective focus. The focus is on the sled and jacket but the snow is blurry which helps to keep your attention on the colors. Another composition technique is low key lighting. The lighting in the image is a little dark which helps the colors stand out more because they are not being washed out by bright lighting. To me this image shows times when my family would go outside and play in the snow. My favorite thing to do in the winter is go sledding so this image brings a lot of joy to me. It also shows the competitiveness within my family because of the way that the image was taken it seems like the start of a race.
