Graphic Design/ Art Competitions

The subject of my creation was protecting the ocean and keeping it clean for the life that lives within the ocean, and the setting is suppose to be underwater where there are sea creatures swimming around the Google Sign. I only used color pencils for the coloring/blending and shading in my artwork and I used pencil to draw out the idea of my artwork. To make my artwork I used picture references to draw out my sea animals (Beluga, Stingray, Sea Turtle) and I used picture references for different types of coral for the Google Sign. I also looked up a picture reference for a hand holding a bag so I could make it look like someone was holding a recycling bag. I chose to create this specific artwork because I really like and care for the ocean and the creatures that live within it, and I have a dream of becoming a Marine Biologists one day so I can protect the creatures that live within the ocean.

I did a lot of blending of my colors that I chose to make the things within my drawing look a bit more realistic, I also did a lot of shading like with the hand holding the bag I shaded in areas of the bag. But thats about it for the techniques because I chose the techniques that I was the most comfortable with in this project because I wanted this project to look nice since I really enjoyed doing it. My project didn't evolve much the only difference is the Beluga, I was originally planning on drawing a Dolphin but I thought a Beluga would have more meaning since that Beluga Whales are almost on the brink of extinction so I thought it would give a deeper meaning on what I was drawing.

There are many meanings behind this artwork for me but my number one meaning is that I really hope that our society will take better care of the ocean than what we are currently doing now. I hope our society will learn some day on what type of dangers we can and are currently causing for the creatures that live in the ocean and the ocean in general and I hope once people realize that they will do anything that they can to fix it. The project relates to my life is that I am aware of things that are happening to our oceans, I am aware of the animals who are in danger everyday, so now when I visit the beach i'm always picking up trash that I find, I pick up anything that could somehow land in the ocean and harm a creature of some sort. I honestly can't think of anything that I would do differently or change about my artwork, I think its great the way it is and I hope we do another project like this in the near future!
