Sustained Investigation #7

For my 7th investigation for my inquiry quote "How can I express color through Animals" I decided to paint a parrot sitting on a tree branch. I chose to paint a parrot because parrots are very colorful and I wanted to paint in animal with multiple different colors so I can try blending and see how it worked all together... I also wanted to practice drawing and painting birds, I have a hard time with feathers.

I made this painting with colored pencils, watercolor, and posca pens.

I experimented with feathers. I've never really been good at drawing feathers and I'm not really sure why? It might be because of the lack of detail or to much detail and I've always struggled with it. My project never really evolved I was planning on doing a parrot no matter what but if you look at my sustained investigation #6 this painting did evolve from being in the sketch phase to being done. I think I could've done a better job erasing the graph but I drew it to darkly so I couldn't get rid of it as easily as I usually can, so next time I'm definitely gonna draw the graph lightly.
