Sustained Investigation #1

For this project, I wanted to paint the spotted skunk. Spotted skunks are a new species of skunk discovered in 2022 and I thought they were really interesting because they have a bunch of white blotches of fur for their patterns. I also learned that this species of skunk is very acrobatic and like to do handstands when they spray things which I found really funny.

For this project, I used watercolor paper and paints, watercolor brushes, and copic markers.

I did a lot of research on the spotted skunk to see if this was a true species discovered in 2022. I also sketched out a couple of ideas with the spotted skunks and the areas they are located to get an idea for the scenery. For the final project I was going to do the skunk in its handstand pose but decided to just have one walking around.
