Sustained Investigation #9

For my sustained investigation #8-#9 I have been working on a mother gorilla with her baby. I chose to draw gorillas because of their colors, not only can I use different shades of black but I can also use different shades of blues and purples.

So far I've used a reference image and sketched out the gorillas and some grass at the bottom with a led pencil.

This time I didn't use a grid and instead just sketched out the drawing and I think it came out pretty good for a sketch because I pretty much just got the basics done. My next steps are to start sketching out the scenery so the gorillas aren't just floating in the center, I plan on making the scenery look like a jungle so it seems the mother gorilla and the baby gorilla are walking through the jungle.
