My inspiration for this work was that I wanted to work with blockier colors, little to no blending. I wanted to experiment with shading with flat colors, using different colors on top of each other to reflect shades and shadows. I also wanted to keep exploring using ink and the designs a details I can achieve, therefore I used a pen to add small details around the piece.
Pen and Markers on 5" x 9" bristol paper.
My process was to first sketch out the shapes of the facial features, after that I went over them with a base color. Each one being different, after that I went in with the secondary color to show shadows. I then used a pen to add more depth, as well as designs and patterns throughout the work.
