My inspiration for this was that I wanted to make a figure that looked like it was trapped inside the paper, begging for help. I wanted it to look a little more 2D than usual, and exaggerate the facial features. Making the figure look like he was struggling or in pain, signifying being trapped by art without an escape or way out.
Pen and Marker on 9" x 12" watercolor paper
My process was to first sketch out the figures eyes, mouth, and nose. Then I added outlines with a pen to make the features pop more, after that I started with base colors of marker. And finally I shaded and blended with second and third layers of marker. I also added the wording after I went over the piece with my first layers.
