What are ways that I can portray perspective through my art?
This inquiry can evolve through me wanting to show something through perspective, it allows me to personalize my inquiry and make it my own. It also gives me freedom with what I create, meaning I can experiment with materials to form my more specific and personal question.
Mid-Year Reflection
How can I show my own Self-Image through my art?
Probably Escaping Traditionalism or Something's Off, because I feel like on one of them, I really experimented with perspective by using two separate pieces of paper. Which is something that I've never done before, so it feels good to see it look finished. Though my last SI work is completely different, I reverted to just pens and some graytones. Although I still like it because it's the most recent reflection of my style and how it's changing and evolving compared to the first few.
Help Me! is my least successful, just because it feels the most unfinished and flat. I didn't put as much effort into it as I should have, and it makes it feel less impactful than the other pieces. The message itself is very vague as well.
I have struggled with choosing materials, mostly because it's hard to use a new medium. As well as the mediums I want to use are ones that I have not had good experiences with in the past, which makes it difficult to go back. Also, I want to try to experiment with a new style of art, maybe more abstract or realistic, instead of illustration.
I just need to go for it, I have to force myself out of my comfort zone, and just try something new. And if I practice with a new medium or a bigger-sized paper, I'll get better with it as time goes on. I just need to work through trial and error to find what I like and enjoy, even if it's different.
I want to explore with paints, as well as bigger papers. I want to try to use oil pastels and maybe try watercolor or gouache.
My work is developing into a more set style, and I'm starting to create these characters and figures in the same way. I'm drawing faces in my own style now, trying to find how I like to draw and create. Although I still haven't developed enough to be content with my work.
After reading the peer reviews, I know that I have to keep branching out in the style I create and the mediums I use, because most of my pieces look somewhat similar.
I want to focus on using more mediums, as well as exploring different styles of artwork to try. I want to diversify my Sustained Investigation more.
