Mid-Year Reflection
Personality through Character Design
Confusion, because it has the most contrast as well as there is little to no white space that is very visible. I like how it looks, and the use of pen is very appealing to my eyes, I also like how I shaded and how it is the full body of a character and not just the face. finally, there is a background that brings the whole piece together.
Curiosity, because there is no color as well as it looks 2d and unfinished. I added nothing too special to the background and shaded too much so you can't see the faces very well. And the whole drawing looks flat.
I think that the thing I struggled with the most was probably my use of white space, there is visibly way too much white space in my sustained investigations. And it makes my pieces look rushed and not done well, my use of pen and only pen made it hard to fill in the white space.
I'm going to experiment with new materials like colored pencils, and other colored paper like toned paper. So I can fill in the white space and use materials that can help me do so.
I want to explore colored pencils, oil pastels, and maybe markers in the future.
I think it's slowly changing, my work has gotten a little better and the detail is a little more noticeable. Although it could still use some work.
Some major trends were as I mentioned, filling in my white space and maybe spending some more time cleaning my work up. Therefore, I think that in the future I will spend more time on my work, working to add detail and make it look finished. And finally, fill in the white space.
