Durgarao S. Borkar

Mr. Durgarao Shantaram Borkar (Poularly known as Vasant or DS) was born on 25^th July,1913 at Karwar.

Matriculate from Hindu High School Karwar.

Engineering Degree B E (Civil) on 3^rd Rank from Pune Engineering Collage, the only Engineering College.

After graduating he joined Government service as Asstt. Engineer. During his tenure he was Housing Commissioner of Maharashtra Housing Board. He retired as Chief Engineer of Maharashtra State. He was offered Chief Secretary post of Maharashtra Government but he refused as he had promised State Bank Of India to join that Bank.

He was deputed on various bodies of Govt. such as ICICI, HDFC, IDBI, RTO, All India Road Council etc.

He was Chairman of Worli Blind School.

He was associated with construction of Mantralaya, Govt. Law College , Annexure to J J Hospital, Vashi Bridge etc.

He was also associated with construction of residential complex for devotees and priest at Bori, Goa.

He was actively participated in construction of Agrashala and various developments at Shree Shantadurga Temple, Kavalem.

He was pious, humble, hard working , loving ,down to earth person with great future vision and brilliance.
