Bori Utsav 2009

This plan is presented by Dr. Vallabh Dhaimodker of the Ponda on behalf of the IMA Charitable Trust, Ponda.

Indira Gandhi Priyadarshani Award winner of 2004 Dr. Nagesh Borkar and Rear Admiral (retd) Dr. Jivan Mablu Borcar will work closely to support the Bori Health Management Plan on behalf of the Borikars.

Primary Health Care :

i) Select appropriate place and start

patient clinic on regular basis - to start

with 2-3 hrs per day

Services of retired doctors and para medical

staff is ideal way in the beginning.

ii ) Maintain proper health data of the

villagers / residents

iii) Identify the health problems by

maintaining epidemiological data

iv ) Supplement these activities by

organizing periodic Camps for

Diabetes, Hypertension , Anemia ,

Cancer detection and other ailments

Health Education

i ) At school level for children

ii ) At Self Help Group or Anganwadi level

for women.

iii) At Panchayat level for adults

iv) At Village group level for senior

citizens .

By way of Pamplets Posters, group

counseling , and group discussions

Wellness programs

i ) Providing vaccinations against water

borne diseases such as Typhoid ,

Hepatitis - A, Cholera, etc at

subsidized rates. As these are not

provided by Govt. Health Services.

ii ) Providing Deworming , hematinics ,

food supplements for deserving and

needy.

iii ) Providing support to senior citizens

Creating eco friendly Environment

i ) Anti malarial and other vector borne diseases drive

ii ) Providing healthy drinking water

iii) Sanitation

iv) Encourage plantations of medicinal

plants

v ) Water harvesting projects

vi ) Setting up Library to promote

literature

vii ) Organize poster competitions on

health related topics

Other facilities

i ) Residential doctors available for

villagers at night for emergencies

ii ) Ambulance services

iii ) Maintain a list of Blood donors

iv ) Basic First Aid awareness

v) Safety Training - Electrical

appliances, LPG use

At the outset:

a) Identify the volunteers

( doctors , nurses , pharmacists and other

paramedics ) amongst

- Borikars who live in Bori and around

- Borikars settled in other parts ,

and can provide their services

b ) Tie up and coordinate with NGOs such

as" Shri Navadurga Arogya Seva Kendra"

who can assist in taking up medical

activities.

Role of IMA Ponda Charitable Trust

Being a professional NGO, conducting Charitable activities for > 25 years , IMA

can provide medical assistance in terms of

a) Suggestions and guidance

b) Participate in health camps

c) Provide sample medicines from IMA

members

d) Help in building up healthy life style

One model camp prior to World Borikar Convention

  • Health Screening of deserving & needy villagers of Borim residents
  • Total patients not exceeding 150
  • Age group - No bar
  • Preliminary screening - With one finger prick - testing for Hemoglobin , Blood Glucose and Blood Group.
  • Blood Pressure measure .
  • This can be done by selecting a group of people of all Wards of Borim .
  • Resting ECG for patients > 50 yrs of age
  • Investigations can be done before the camp by sending the pts. at Vidhya Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd . on working days
  • Tests for this group will be conducted on no profit no loss basis .
  • Professional charges will be exempted.
  • Reports to be given to the patients on the day of camp , so that doctors can advise on the basis of investigations .
  • Camp to be organized on any one Sunday before conference
  • Epidemiological data can be presented during meet of doctors
