Suresh Ramarao Borkar

Mr. Suresh Borkar is the fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountant of India and also of the institute of Company Secretary. He was Audit Clerk with prestigious firm of Chartered Accountants A.F. Ferguson and Company which he joined after his graduation in Commerce. He ranked 13th on all India basis at C.A. final examination. He is proud to mention that all his family consisting of wife and two children are Chartered Accountant.

Mr. Borkar has contributed as a member of the Maharashtra Economic Development Council, Member of the Business Economic Group by Dr. Freddy Mehta and Bombay Chamber of Commerce - Economic Council with two years as its Vice-Chairman.

Mr. Borkar has undergone training in Management. Professional Manager by Louis Allen and Total Quality Management are some of the courses which he practices even today.

Mr. Borkar has always believed that he has drawn so much from the Society that he must repay his obligation to the Society. In this context his working with Rotary provided him good opportunity to serve the society. He worked resolutely for the upliftment of needy and poor. He along with his wife and 2 children is 4 times Paul Haris Fellow Contributing $4000, the money which is spent for objects like eradication of polio and other diseases. In Rotary hierarchy he reached the level of district secretary in the year when an Indian Rtn Raja Sabu was the president of Rotary International. One of the significant contributions by Mr. Borkar was getting a plot of land where today stands the Rotary Welfare Center. To Mr. Borkar Rotary is a way of life.

Mr. Borkar was the Chairman of a Nasik based School for 16 years. With his constant supervision and guidance, this School is rated even today as the top most school, adjudged by admission rush one gets every year. With Mr. Borkar’s commitment to excellence & transparency he didn’t permit any corrupt practices. All suggestions to collect donation was firmly turned down by him. “I will not make business out of noble cause like education. It is an insult to our culture in which Goddess “SARASWATI” is respected and worshipped. The transparency was overwhelmingly visible that even the pressure from Collector, Police Commissioner and Minister was not entertained for any admission. The objective was to inculcate in children who are our future the sound VALUE system. The monthly meeting with the teaching staff and guiding them to achieve excellence in their field resulted into 100% results at S.S.C. final examination. Many students consistently have their names in the merit list.

Apart from these accolades the Society in Nasik appreciated the training programmes the School conducted for the staff. Perhaps the only School that has a “Vision” and “Mission” statement. This was prepared in participative type of Management involving all the teaching staff.

Mr. Borkar had over 16 years Directorship with NKGSB Co-Operative Bank. During his Chairmanship he had planned and executed some of the landmarks which are even today reckoned by the Board. Planning is the lifeline of Mr. Borkar’s ethos. He always strives to get something NEW something DIFFERENT. He introduced corporate culture; created HRD and Marketing Department. The performance evaluation, training, setting objective, monthly meeting of Branch Manager etc. were started, His learning in management field is imparted to organization where he is associated. He conducted “TQM” classes for improving the overall performance of the Bank. A specialized training center was created initially to train the staff and later on this became the profit center for the bank. In order to pay the respect and gratitude to the founder Seth Shantaram Kulkarni a FOUNDER’S day was started. On this day members and dignitaries are invited to a lecture by eminent personality in Finance, Economics, Management, IT etc. Mr. Borkar himself has conducted TQM Workshop for the staff. The awards are given to the Best Managed branch.
