Clean our water bodies

All Join the campaign to keep our water bodies clean

This is the condition as below

In May Pollution control board, Health Department, Water resources department and Bori Village Panchayat have joined hands with Bori Development Trust to clean the water bodies.

We have requested all the small scale industries as mithalwala, scarp dealers, laundry for past 2 years to avoid polluting of the nallah, as this water feeds to all nearby wells, also the Navdurga Lake, where the children used to swim. The residents have been complaining but no action was taken. But there was advice on deaf ears.

On May 21, 2014, Pollution control board did an initial inspection and warned all the polluting businesses along the nallah to clean the area and obtain NOC from Pollution control board and village panchayat.

Further to the initial inspection, a joint inspection with panchayat Bori village, water resource department, Pollution control board and Health Department was conducted on May 28, 2014 from 10.30 am to 1 pm. Along with Bori Development Trust members, Sanjay Gaude (Sarpanch,-Bori Village), Parimal Samant (Dy Sarpanch-Bori Village), Vishwas Prabhudesai (representative of Navdurga Temple Committee), Subash Borkar (Representative - Aai Kalavati Parmarth Niketan) were present. The inspection was conducted by AE Mr. Ankush Gaonkar & JE Mr. Gangesh Shirodkar of Water resources Department, Mr. Manoj Kudalkar (Junior Environmental Engineer) and Ms. Nishitha Lolienkar (Lab Assistant - Pollution Control Department) and Mrs. Milan Naik (LHV-Health Department, Shiroda).

The nallah from Shirshirem to Navdurga temple was inspected and several businesses found operating without panchayat, pollution control board NOC will be served notices immediately. All establishments throwing domestic waste water, overflow of septic tank or soak pits and biodegradable waste as waste oil will be stopped by panchayat within a week. All illegal construction for businesses along the nallah will be demolished to halt pollution.

All the religious establishments, where there are marriage halls are informed to keep the area free of litter and biodegradable waste as leftover food.

The village folks are angry on this indiscrimate pollution of the sacred Navdurga Lake nallah as their faith with the local Navdurga godess is hurt as the Sangod each year is conducted in the lake and Ganesh immersion is done in the nallah. It is wish of all to restore the sanctity of our natural water bodies as Navdurga Lake & nallah to make our village a pollution free zone

The new shed at Talsai Bori is completed at a cost of around Rs.1 Lakh. This is undertaken to ensure the dry waste management of the entire village by year end. The has great efforts from Sanjay Bhar Borkar, Parimal Samant - Deputy Sarpanch Bori Village and Salvador. We will now reach out to the entire village for collection and storage and disposal of all dry waste. The dry waste will be plastic (bottles, caps, wrapers, bags etc.). paper, cloth, old footware, metal, glass & electronic waste as fused tubelights, CFL, LED, chokes etc.

We want all to support the cause making Bori the first village garbage free village in Goa by efforts of the residents led by Bori Development Trust with assistance from Village Panchayat.
