Dr. Keshav Shivaji Varde

Keshav (Dinesh) Varde left India to pursue higher studies in the U.S. He graduated with the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Sciences from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, U.S.A. After completing two-years of post-doctoral research in the U.K., he joined the faculty of mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan, Dearborn Campus, where he is presently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Dean, College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Dinesh has been involved in engineering education and scholarly activities for many years. His research covers combustion, fuels, emissions, alternative energy systems, and fuel cell systems. His projects are supported by the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the State of Michigan, and several industrial organizations. He has authored and co-authored over 90 archival papers in journals, periodicals, and international conferences. He has offered several seminars and presentations at universities, research centers, and international workshops. He has organized, chaired and co-chaired international technical sessions. He also consults many corporations on technical matters.

Dr. Varde is a reviewer for several international journals and societies. He is frequent reviewer and a member on proposal review panels for the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and several national and international research funding agencies. He is a program reviewer for the Engineering Accreditation Commission that accredits engineering programs in the U.S. He has advised and guided a large number of students on research projects and theses. He frequently travels to India to visit is relatives and family roots in Borim.
