Babi Borkar

He was born in Borim on 18^th March 1903. From his family atmosphere of singing kirans daily, he developed a liking for singing and playing instruments. He used to play harmonium excellently. He used to accompany Master Dinnanath Mangeshkar on harmonium in all his well-acclaimed sangeet nataks- Dhruv, Prahlad, Saubhadra, and Vidyaharan.

He had also accompanied Bal Gandharv for his singing When Sangeet Natak was not promising, he joined Manikbua Bhajani Mandal. He was staying in Sangli and also for some years he did kirtans with his father in Navdurga temple at Borim. In 1953 he moved to Belgaum and started music classes, where he taught harmonium, violin, tabla, flute all of which he played beautifully.
