According to Paul Witham all check letters were re-cut during the perforated period. I cannot say if all letters were re-cut, but I have found a few examples. The timing of re-cut is interesting, but unknown. Was the first repair to this plate to touch up the letters, which was then followed up with a repair by re-entry, or visa versa. I think that there are examples of plate 155 which show a similar repair, i.e. re-cut letters with the absence of a re-entry. It would seem that the repair by re-entry took place in the perf period. A list of second states (from Scott Treacey) include AE-AK; poss AL; BL; GA; QA; RA; SA-SE; TA-TB; TG and TK.
