Folkard states:

State 1, East side, weak at top getting weaker with wear, west side weak, E side of NE square thick.

This was based on the imprimatur, and two imperf copies from state 1.

We have lost track of the imprimatur, but we do have a later state to compare. In common with many of the later states, the right side has been significantly strengthened with the weakness at the first loop disappearing. The check letters do not appear to be significantly thinned. More examples needed.
