This is a slight kiss print so there is some doubling at top, but the stamp does show a large degree of wear. The left hand side is all but open, the top right is feint, and the facial features and background lattice work is thinning.
State 2
Large scan. [ST]
This is an important piece from Scott showing both AD and AE in state 2. Limiting comments to AD, to some extent the weaknesses mentioned above have been improved. The D appears slightly thinner and there is a short TRL appearing to the left of top left side.
AE is found in state 2 imperforate (see 163 AE).
