Douglas Gartery

Douglas was the son of Willie and Jessie Gartery, of Horbury, Yorkshire. He was a server in St Mary’s and taught in the Sunday School - his death was remembered in the church magazine.

Douglas was a Flying Officer in 419 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron of the of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Service number128972) and died on 24th May 1943, aged 23. He is buried in grave B.A. 2. G. 14.of Rheinberg War Cemetery.
