Joseph Asher

Joseph was born in about 1897 in Horbury, the son of John and Hannah Asher, who (in 1901) lived on Queen Street in the parish of St Peter’s and who kept the fish shop there. Joseph was a Private in the 2nd Battalion of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (Service number 21832). He went to France on 6th July 1915 and died on 23rd November 1916 – he is buried at Porte-De-Paris Cemetery, Cambrai.
