Sam Rawden

Sam Rawden was born in Heckmondwike, and enlisted in Horbury. He became a Sapper with the 108th Tunnelling Company of the Royal Engineers, and died on 7th June 1917. He is buried at Tincourt New British Cemetery. Tincourt was one of many villages fought over during the battles of the Somme, and became a centre for Casualty Clearing Stations.
