John Williamson

John was one of four children of Alfred (a coal hewer) and Amelia Williamson of Northgate, in St Peter’s parish. He was born about 1889 in Horbury and married Annie Thresh of 4, Dawson Place, Horbury in 1907.

John was a Private in the 8th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers (Service number 16830) and died of his wounds on 3rd October 1916 at the age of 28. He was buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery (a base port and one of the chief hospital areas for the Western Front).
