Edward Davis

Edward was the son of John and Rose Davis, and the brother of Ernest.

He was a Private in the 2nd/4th Battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment (Service number 235082) and died on 21st March 1918 – probably when the Allied Fifth Army was driven back by overwhelming numbers across the former Somme battlefields. His name is recorded on the Pozieres Memorial, which commemorates over 14,000 casualties of the United Kingdom and 300 of the South African Forces who have no known grave and who died on the Somme from 21 March to 7 August 1918.

So both brothers died on the Somme, and only 4 months apart!
