Sabat Prince Vegeta is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race and arch-rival to Goku. He is the husband of Bulma, the father of Trunks and Bra, the estranged brother of Tarble, and the great-great grandfather of Vegeta Jr. He is one of the four (eight non-canon) surviving members of the Saiyan race.He is 5'3" tall (in comparison with Goku's 5'7" height). His hair firmly stands upwards, and has a prominent widow's peak. A main characteristic of Vegeta's was the fact that he was the only living Saiyan whom continued to wear the traditional Saiyan armor (in reference to his heritage) and has been seen wearing various different forms of the armor, therefore making the Saiyan armor more synonymous with him, although he slowly abandons the Saiyan armor later in Dragon Ball Z and then completely in Dragon Ball GT, where he is depicted wearing "Earth-like" clothing. This is possibly because his new levels of power eliminated the need for any type of fabricated armor. However, even when Vegeta does lose the armor, he is always seen wearing white gloves and white boots in battle throughout Dragon Ball Z. Vegeta also had a tail during the Vegeta Saga, but it was cut by Yajirobe.Vegeta's hair never grows in length (he told Bulma that a pure Saiyan's hair doesn't grow from the day they're born) besides when he transforms to Super Saiyan, USSJ2, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Saiyan 4. He states in an episode of the Perfect Cell Saga on Dragon Ball Z that a pure Saiyan's hair does not change from the day they are born. (See the GT issue below)If observed closely, Vegeta actually changes appearance physically over the course of Dragon Ball Z. Originally, he is drawn to appear very small and lean to make him appear to be the less threatening of his pairing with the immensely sized Nappa. However, by the end of Dragon Ball Z, he appears to be somewhat taller, more muscular, with his hair height having also been shortened, though he is still quite a bit shorter than Goku, who also appears to become taller. His facial features also somewhat appear to become sharper and defined as the series goes on, making him look older (though this may actually be attributed to actual aging). His personality is haughty, arrogant, and filled with hatred and bitterness as a result of the destruction of his home planet and his race's abusive treatment at the hands of Frieza. His royal status seems to have caused him to develop an inflated sense of superiority, and he holds himself above most people he encounters. He is very proud of his Saiyan heritage and believes that his race is the most powerful in the universe. Vegeta has also shown himself to be extremely aggressive and angry . Throughout the first half of the Frieza Saga, whoever he faced and defeated`he killed without mercy. Indeed, his only sign of mercy is when he lets the "new" Captain Ginyu go as he didn't want frog guts on his clean boots and that being a frog was bad enough for Ginyu.Vegeta has also been seen scared of opponents like Broli and Freeza, but is shown to come around. In Broly's case, this could be out of respect for the rumor of  the so-called "The Legendary Super Saiyan."

King Vegeta, as King of the Saiyan race. However, he (along with the young prince) was under the rule of the interplanetary warlord Freeza. He killed King Vegeta and destroyed the Saiyan planet, Planet Vegeta. With this annihilation, Frieza took out all the Saiyans (after the Super Saiyan legend is true), with the exception of himself, Kakarot/Son Goku, Raditz, Nappa, Tullece, Paragus, Broli, and Tarble.

Freeza kept Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz as slaves to do his bidding, while Goku escaped the devastation by being sent to cleanse Earth of its inhabitants moments before it was destroyed. In the manga chapter of the Namek Saga, Vegeta expresses his anger about working for Freeza and his top henchman, Zarbon, whom he states was responsible for mocking him for many years and "working him like a slave." Vegeta constantly refers to himself as the "Prince of all Saiyans", a title he is extremely proud of. Vegeta does not refer to himself as the "King of all Saiyans", possibly out of respect for his father, a refusal to admit the extinction of the Saiyans, or because he was never formally declared King.

As the Prince of the demolished Planet Vegeta, Vegeta was initially introduced as an unrepentant villain. From his evil intentions before he joined the Z Fighters, Vegeta has been typically characterized as extremely arrogant, vengeful, and somewhat cold. Many early stints of heroism were due to self-interest or revenge, although he later settles down and grows fond of Earth as his home, raising a family with Bulma. His opinion of Goku always being one step ahead of him, even though he is a lower class Saiyan, runs the gamut from contempt to rivalry, and later to respect and friendship. Naturally, Goku always takes an optimistic opinion about him. Vegeta is more of a tactical fighter, but often, his rage or arrogance blinds him in his fighting style. His royal blood and intense fighting style have both benefited and harmed him in many battles.

Years later, he learned of the Dragon Ball's existence from a transmission from Raditz, and he traveled to Earth with Nappa to become immortal so he could defeat Freeza. At this time, Vegeta cannot search for energy, since he relies on his scouter. His personality is a pure, warlike Saiyan, and he torments Goku and the others with merciless attacks. He treats his comrades the same way, and he treats the defeated Saibamen and Nappa like garbage, showing a heartless and cruel side.

After being defeated by Goku and the others, he fled Earth. He felt that he had relied too much on the scouter, and trains hard to learn the technique to search for energy. Vegeta mastered the technique for finding energy and when he fought Dodoria, he even destroyed his own scouter.  After the battle on Earth, Vegeta fights against Frieza on Planet Namek. In order to defeat him, Vegeta is forced to join Goku and the Z-fighters. After using the Dragon Balls to escape Planet Namek, he began living with Bulma's family on Earth.

Vegeta's goal is to defeat Kakarot, and toward this he began to train tirelessly every day. At some point during his training, he developed a relationship with Bulma, and Trunks was born.

Once having the cruel and fierce personality of a Saiyan warrior, he has mellowed a bit since living on Earth. However, because of his pride and his shame at becoming soft, he displays a cold attitude toward others, even his son Trunks, who came from the future.

Much like Goku, he does not have much interest beyond fighting. He spends his days training, and never holds any sort of "real job". This begins to annoy Bulma to some degree, but Vegeta pays her no mind. For him, beating Goku is all that matters.

After the Cell Games, he continued his brutal training regiment in the hopes of surpassing Goku, and as such he has become ever stronger. He's still as prideful and obstinate as ever, but now that he has a family, he's not as cruel as he used to be, and at times he's even acted to protect total strangers. However, the seven years of peace that came after the conclusion of the Cell Games would suggest that the two settled their differences and began to have a much better relationship than previously. Vegeta eventually became fond of his family in the Majin Buu Saga, but is ashamed of himself for doing so, wanting to be the coldhearted prince he once was. Nonetheless, Vegeta eventually realizes what is really important in his life, and sacrifices himself to save his family and Earth when fighting Majin Buu.

Another more comical show of his fondness towards Bulma can be seen in his angry reaction when he finds out that Goku promised Elder Kai that he could kiss her (in the original version, Goku promised to show Elder Kai some sexy pictures of Bulma), causing him to throw a fit, to which Goku's only reply being "your wife is prettier than mine!"

Later in Dragon Ball GT, he changes his hairstyle and grows a mustache, suddenly taking an interest in his appearance for some reason. However, when his new daughter Bulla informed him that the mustache didn't suit him, he wound up shaving it off. In the anime there are scenes of Vegeta driving his daughter Bra to go shopping, which means that somewhere along the line he was able to get his driver's license.
