PLOT FOR BATTLE OF GODS RELEASED AND CHOZENSHU

Despite being a late bum, the official summary for Battle of Gods is here during the recent screening at Shinjuku Wald 9 on Tuesday.

For those who doesn't know the Chozenshus - The Chōzenshū (超全集; lit. "Ultra Complete Collection") are condensed versions of the 1990s Daizenshuu, illustrated books that tell everything about the Dragon Ball franchise, with updated information, including those from other guide books and manga series related to Dragon Ball. Their release dates are February 5, March 4, April 4, and May 9, 2013, respectively.Each of the four volumes contains B4-sized posters with rare illustrations by Akira Toriyama, and which were originally posters in the Daizenshuu books. They are published under V-Jump's Favorite Printing Comics collection. 

With the ongoing screenings, the Battle of Gods film is upon us and will be the first anime film in IMAX.

MOVIE 14'S MOJI MAKER RELEASED

Although it's late, happy 2013 to all of you folks.

Toei Animation has recently released the moji maker in their “Special Contents” page, a logo maker based on the Dragon Ball Z logo. Simply type your name, choose the background and hit the "GO!" button. You can share this in your Facebook/Twitter accounts whicjh is a smart marketing move for those smartass bozos in Japan promoting it as geniuses. The logo maker gets its name from the Japanese word moji (文字), which means “character”, as in the letters of the alphabet. Have fun though! Kinda wish Toei releases one for Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball (Z) Kai.

BATTLE OF GODS CHECKUPS AND NEW THEME SONG

A few days ago, two new characters for the Movie Bilsu and Weiss were confirmed as per Kanzenshuu. At the same time, the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods site was updated. 

Today, the folks as per ANN reported that Sapporo Internet TV station 11CH streamed a full trailer . However, after announcing the stream of the video at 10:00 a.m., the website quickly took the video down. With three lucky 12s, it made its way to YouTube thanks to SonGoku.

The first real trailer for the film such as this one above was aired on Fuji TV on December 7, 2012, in the morning show Mezamashi TV, as Toei started showing it at movie theaters.

Recently, Japanese indie/pop/rock band FLOW announced on Twitter as the performer for the theme song, CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA, a song sung by Hironobu Kageyama, 

It’s been decided that FLOW will handle the main theme of the film “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods”, opening 30 March 2013.

The theme will be what could be called a byword for Dragon Ball Z, “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA”!!!

That famous song will come back to life in a rearrangement with FLOW’s distinctive increased sense of speed!!!

By all means, please look forward to the FLOW-style “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA”!!!

When the band formed in 1998, they have sang several theme songs for anime including the fourth  Naruto opening theme: "GO". Later the site would post about the decision of FLOW's rearrangement: 

We, FLOW, are truly happy now to have been given the honor of covering “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA”. “Dragon Ball” is an anime that we’ve watched since we were in elementary school, all the members are in high spirits! And on top of that, “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” is a song we’ve often sung at karaoke, so to think we’d have the honor of doing a cover! We’re also incredibly excited for this movie, so we’d be glad if everyone would enjoy not only [watching] the movie, but listening to the FLOW-style “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA” as well.

And finally, the story section on the site has been unveiled. Sadly at the moment it’s merely a recap of the original Dragon Ball series, but it appears that they may be slowly updating the page with new information as it reads below:

The mysterious boy living up in the mountains far away from the big city, Son Goku, and the girl searching for the Dragon Balls, Bulma. With that said and the approach of the One Piece Film Z on December 15, 2012, the movie will be showing in three months. Check back here as time flies. 

MOVIE 14 GETS ITS NAME AND DRAGON BALL KAI CONTINUES OUTSIDE JAPAN

Over the weekend, the title for the next and eighteenth Dragon Ball film will be called Battle of Gods (Shin to Kami, God and God) as what Manga-news Japon's Twitter has posted via a Mac computer.

The poster shows Goku battling an unnamed purple Egyptian warrior (maybe Toei pulled a Yu-Gi-Oh! to do this?) with the unknown god in the centre. Also shown are Buu, Videl, Mr. Satan, Pilaf Gang shrunk (see below), Goten, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Bulma, Tenshinhan, Kuririn, and Piccolo.

Why are the Pilaf Gang to appear in this film why may I ask?  Bandai was on hand to showcase some of the new Dragon Ball figures coming this winter during the 30th "Prize Fair" happened in Tokyo last week from what Kanzenshuu reads. In addition to the third line of Zōkei Tenka’ichi Budōkai figures were some items for their “World Collectable Figure” line — small set of eight figures around 7 cm tall — being produced in conjunction with next year’s movie. Along with Goku and Vegeta, Pilaf, Mai, and Shu have been revealed. However, there are three unnamed characters covered in ovals as per what it reads. Hope this movie will be epic!

In a surprise move last week, according to Mayumi Tanaka, seiyuu of Kuririn and Luffy (One Piece) in her blog, Dragon Ball Kai officially continues with voice work under way for the Buu arc. From what it reads:

It won’t be aired in Japan, but overseas, Dragon Ball Kai is continuing. Right now, we are recording the part at the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, where Goten and Trunks infiltrate the adults’ division by one standing on the other’s shoulders. The image is definitely clearer than before. We talked about how we want it to air in Japan, too.

A big twist that its not the first time that a Kai series turned a hell of a candlestick that the series ended after 98 episodes last year due to the music fiasco and an devastated earthquake. From what she reads,  there are no plans to air the new episodes in Dragon Ball's home country of Japan... yet. Only time will tell when FUNimation will dub parts nine-twelve of the series although their license is set to be up after 2015.

ADDONS TO THE 2013 MOVIE: FUNDING AND ART DIRECTOR

Kanzenshuu posted a report on Thursday that the folks had reported on Crunchyroll that the 2013 film has received the government funding granted to Toei for a worth of  ¥50,000,000 ($636,000 US) via UNIJAPAN’s “Co-production Certification Program” and was developed by the Japanese government’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), and other affiliated organizations, to support the international endeavors of Japanese filmmakers.

Hiroshi Katō is the newcomer for the Dragon Ball franchise for the art direction in the upcoming 14th film. Since 1993, he was involved with the anime works as art director for numerous series, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ah! My Goddess, and most recently Space Brothers. Katō currently oversees the background art division of the animation company specializing in background art, overseeing scene designs, and CG animation, Totonyan (short for To Tony Animation). They 

will presumably be overseeing all artistic aspects of the movie’s production, and we can only speculate that the company has thus far provided all of the background and CG work in both trailer and the site itself. 

DRAGON BALL GOES OVER 9000 CULTURES WITH A NEW BOOK!

It's all about the books this Labour Day weekend.

Anime News Network reports interestingly that the new e-book Dragon Ball Z "It's Over 9,000!" When Worldviews Collide, forever changing how Dragon Ball fans view their favorite series. Written by Derek Padula, webmaster of The Dao of Dragon Ball blog, "It's Over 9,000!" reveals the inner psychology and colliding worldviews of series protagonist Goku and his rival Vegeta, showing the reader how their conflict and competition for the ultimate power is necessary for profound personal growth and character development. Framed through the popular Internet meme that brought us the phrase, "It's Over 9,000!", Padula explains how social media allowed Dragon Ball Z a second opportunity to influence pop culture around the world.

MOVIE TEASER FOR DRAGON BALL Z UNVEILED

As unveiled at the Saikyo V-Jump Festa on July 21 during the Dragon Ball Heroes panel for next year’s new Dragon Ball Z animated movie in Japanthe teaser made its way to Fuji TV recently. Thanks to Kanzenshuu's Japanese rep kei17 for the heads-up! 

The teaser describes the camera drives through a rocky area towards Goku, who is standing on a rocky mountain. At the end, a close on Goku's face shows him smiling.

The news segment notes how this is the first new movie in 7 years, the last being the tenth anniversary movie The Path to Power in 1996. However, it also perpetuates the misunderstanding that the film is intended to fill the gap between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, rather than the ten years between Buu and the final Z story arc. Only time will tell when the actual trailer comes out.

DRAGON BALL GOES HOLLYWOOD!

Something's new to the Dragon World, and for the first time, it's going Hollywood!

Kanzenshuu announced that a new Dragon Ball movie is in the works in the pages of the next issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump (2012′s issue #33) in Japan this coming Monday, as first announced online via @manganewsjapon (and re-posted on Anime News Network):

Special Announcement! “Dragon Ball” set to be made into a movie!

Unconfirmed rumors point toward script involvement from original manga author Akira Toriyama (a la Eiichiro Oda’s involvement in the One Piece movie Strong World) and appearances by Goten and Trunks, hinting at a time frame around the Majin Buu story arc (itself a la the 2008 Jump Super Anime Tour special). However, it became a reality as a Dragon Ball Z movie, as is technical Dragon Ball Movie 18. Original author and franchise founder, Akira Toriyama has this in his statement: 

I was allowed to matter deeply from the stage of the animation for the first time rather than a screenplay, uncommon. I have forgotten that there were many long time because it was after all, was able to authorship, remember that only the tempo quickly indeed. This movie, while retaining the original atmosphere, then I think a modern flavor just a little bit, and become old as a fun romp!

The www.dragonball2013.com site is usually promotional art which currently loads a mostly-blank page. Looking forward to the next Dragon Ball blockbuster! It will be similar to like the Pokemon films and epic as The Avengers, Spiderman, and The Dark Knight films combined.

TAKESHI AONO PASSES AWAY AT 75 YEARS OLD

The Dragon World is deeply saddened that Takeshi Aono has passed away after suffering a bout of post-operative multiple cerebral infarction. That was announced via Eiko Yamada on her Twitter (@eiko751):

Takeshi Aono of Theater Troupe Geikyou passed away this morning. (Voice of Chibi Maruko-chan‘s grandfather, etc…) I liked his plays where he was way too serious. He was wonderful as a voice actor too, but he was something special on the stage. He had a presence that was overwhelming and full of life!! How can he be gone…?! I offer my sincerest prayers.

Aono was most known for the roles of Piccolo Daimao and Kami-sama. He was known for his involvement in the early years of TV anime such as Shiro Sanada (Space Battleship Yamato), Rihaku (Fist of the North Star), Nurarihyon (GeGeGe no Kitaro), Kumahachi Kumada (Kiteretsu Daihyakka), Dakuan (Ninja Scroll), Jinpachi Mishima (Demon form) (Tekken 5/Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection) and Tomozō Sakura (Chibi Maruko-chan). Aono was also known to appear in the first ten One Piece movies. He is also known to gamers as the voice of the diabolical Dr. Wily in the PlayStation-era Mega Man games. However the role was handed over to Bin Shimada on Dragon Ball Kai in 2010. He will be a legend in our hearts forever.

Our thoughts and prayers to the family of Aono, I give condolences and respect to your hard work. 

DAIZENSHUU EX AND KANZENTAI REORGANIZATION, AND EXTRAS

I like to congratulate Mike and Heath of the mergers of two mighty sites, Daizenshuu EX/Kanzantai as Kanzenshuu. Started in 1998 and 2005 respectively, the comprehensive database of Dragon Ball information and community members the franchise has ever seen. One site remains amalgamated as two   sites joins forces. So guys, welcome to your new life of Dragon Ball info as mine will be almost roughly 40% as yours.

For the content, I'm slated to do a few more unreleased original American songs in weeks to come after a prolonged hiatus. For now, happy databas-ing!

EPISODE OF BARDOCK TIDBITS, "DRAGON BALL SSSS" AND ANIME ADAPTATIONS OF THE MANGA

Well guys, I'm back to what I missed.

The recently released manga: "Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock", a three-part short by Naho Ooishi based on a new "What If?" story in which Bardock becomes a Super Saiyan, tying in with his new transformation in Dragon Ball Heroes, which is currently now released in Japan as a card-game ansd a spin-off manga.

Ooishi also released Dragon Ball SD last year as it does not follow the storyline chapter by chapter, instead jumping straight from Goku's childhood to the battle on Planet Namek, and then to the Cell Games. Four chapters have been released so far. More for the new generation of fans.

What Kanzentai reads, 2channel message boards have already begun noting some (unsourced) rumors that a TV broadcast of the new anime is slated for April 2012, exactly three years after the initial broadcast of Dragon Ball Kai. The rumors also note that Masako Nozawa  has returned to reprise her role as Bardock and that the voice of Chilled will be provided by  Ryusei Nakao (Freeza/Coola), who had previously done the character's voice for the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game. The rumors also indicate that Aki Toyosaki , newcomer to the DragonBall franchise, will be portraying the role of Beri, a young villager who befriends Bardock. As said, the manga was mentioned in the August to October issues of V-Jump will be receiving an anime adaptation. There will also be advanced screenings of the anime at Jump Festa '12, which will be held on December 17th and 18th in Tokyo. Japanese fans might get a glimpse of either DVD releases if there's a mail-in similar to JSAT 2008

Don't know what Dragon Ball SSSS is? SSSS meaning Saikyo Super Saiyan Secret (perphaps, Dragon Ball Saikyo Super Saiyan Secret) is a project launched by Bandai, in conjunction with V-Jump and Saikyo Jump, a few weeks ago. 

This project has been conceived "In order to take the first step towards new developments and further expansions of the Dragon Ball titles." More concretely, projects include what has been announced as to air the movie Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans (which was shown from the release of Raging Blast 2 last year) online, and the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock as I said. The announcement first appeared in the latest issue of V-Jump, and shortly thereafter on both the official V-Jump and Saikyou Jump websites. 

Neither sites note when exactly the online streaming will be available, for how long, or in which regions it will be viewable. It should be noted that this animated feature isn't available outside of the video game's release, with no home video release announced. It might depend when FUNimation will release both things in the near future in the North American and Australian market.

DRAGON BALL KAI UPDATES: FINAL EPISODES FOR MARCH, OST PIRACY LEADS TO BGM CHANGE, AND BROADCAST SUSPENSION

It's been long since I was too busy, here are the quick tidbits.

Kanzentai states that multiple sources and blogs in Japan are now reporting that the series will indeed be ending this month. The most damning evidence comes from TV Pia magazine in Japan which publishes a regular feature looking at the upcoming Kai episodes. In the latest copy of the magazine an interview with Takeshi Kusao (Trunks) was published where he stated, "I hope they'll remake the Buu arc as well if they get a chance". The magazine also noted that there are only four episodes left, confirming an episode count of 98 for the series. Dragon Ball Kai ends on episode 98 on March 27, 2011.

Speaking of endings, Episode 96 of Kai for March 13 was suspended due to the news coverage that the destructive earthquake, tsunami, and the threat of nuclear meltdown hit Sendai, Japan on Friday. My thoughts and prayers to the Japanese people who are affected by this horrific incident.

On a brighter note, It appears that the musical score for Dragon Ball Kai is gone dead piracy troubles. Fans were talking about Kenji Yamamoto's score for Dragon Ball Kai for weeks. Some pieces have taken inspiration, but others have been flat-out "stolen" — examples such as Cell's theme from Super Butôden 2 on the Super Famicom (Pink Floyd's "One of These Days") and "Battle Point Unlimited" from DBZ TV Episode 120 (Propaganda's "The Murder of Love", among other of their songs) come to mind. His first foray into solely scoring a TV adaptation of the series (previously only having composed and arranged additional vocal songs while Shunsuke Kikuchi handled BGM composition for the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z TV series, as well as scoring various video games). Concerning the "Dragon Ball Kai" Animation Background Music

It has currently come to light that among the music recorded for the TV animation title "Dragon Ball Kai", which is produced by our company, there are several musical compositions which may possibly violate the rights of a third party.  As these musical compositions are being used as background music in "Dragon Ball Kai", we are swiftly taking steps to replace them.

We are also moving forward with a quick investigation of all the facts, and discussing future countermeasures with the concerned parties.

Trouble, maybe?

Kei17, a loyal Daizenshuu EX forum buddy noticed that the Kai musical score is officially replaced since for the last 3 Kai episodes. It also quotes that many fans in Japan have commented on Twitter that the background music in recent re-runs of the series have already been changed to remove any questionable music. Although we haven't been able to confirm this yet ourselves, it is being reported that some of Yamamoto's questionable score may have been replaced with Shunsuke Kikuchi's DBZ score, whose now solely list Shunsuke Kikuchi as staff under "Music" by Toei and Fuji TV's sites.

This fallout from this has been years in the making, and it will be fascinating to see how this is handled. This would seemingly explain why the fourth soundtrack collection for the "refreshed" TV series was called off for the second time that "Dragon Ball Kai: Original Soundtrack Collection", whose listing has subsequently been removed entirely from Columbia's official website, cover art and all. And with so many overseas companies dubbing the series and keeping Yamamoto's score in-tact, the situation could become quite messy for all parties involved.

On other news,  FUNimation has delayed the release of Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 5 one month, from May 3, 2011 to June 7, 2011. We've reached out to FUNimation to see if this is at all related to a possible removal of Kenji Yamamoto's score of Kai. It is unknown whether it happened or not. So we'll keep you updated if it is possible. 

FUNIMATION BEGINS STREAMING THIS FRANCHISE AND THE LAST OF KAI CDS?

Happy new year everyone. As you all know, Daizenshuu EX's reported that there is the last two CDs for Dragon Ball Kai. However here's a breakdown from their page:

Dragon Ball Kai Original Soundtrack IV will be a single disc retailing for ¥2960, and while a track listing has not been divulged, it will likely follow the style of November 2009's Dragon Ball Kai Original Soundtrack 2 with TV-sized versions of the opening and ending themes, along with a decent amount of background music from the show (FYI: Amazon Japan).

Dragon Ball Kai Complete Song Collection is another single disc which will contain all eleven tracks from the previously-released Dragon Ball Kai Song Collection (sans-"Complete") from November 2009. In addition to those songs, it will also contain the three new vocal songs (all also used as insert songs in the show) from this past September's DragonBall Kai Soundtrack III & Songs, as well as the current ending theme, "Kokoro no Hane". The track order has yet to be finalized, but those will indeed be the contents of the disc. The disc will retail for ¥2625 (FYI: Amazon Japan).

Anime Leaders to Stream Episodes of Iconic Anime Series

Flower Mound, Texas – January 3, 2011 -- FUNimation® Entertainment and Toei Animation Co., Ltd. have entered into an agreement giving the American anime leader exclusive rights to the U.S. and Canadian online streaming of the studios’ signature animated series “Dragon Ball Z.”

Starting Saturday, January 15th at 7:30 PM CDT preceding the One Piece simulcast at 8:00 PM CDT, FUNimation will stream the series from its beginning via the official Dragon Ball Z website www.dragonballz.com in addition to www.dragonballzkai.com , www.funimation.com and FUNimation partner site www.hulu.com.

FUNimation will offer its professionally-produced, uncut, English-tracked and English-subtitled adaptations of the hugely successful series beginning with the first episode as well as other chapters of the Dragon Ball franchise: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai.

“We are pleased to offer the first legal streaming of this seminal anime series,” said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment. “Dragon Ball Z and One Piece are the crown jewels of our digital content strategy and we are proud of the diverse selection of series that entertains established fans and new ones as well.”

Alright then, apparently the entire franchise will be making its way, both in its original Japanese incarnation (subtitled) along with an English dub, streaming online starting with the first episode of Dragon Ball Z, and it all goes down on January 15th @ 8:30 PM ET, The online combination of Dragon Ball and One Piece mirrors that of the current "Dream 9" time slot on its Fuji TV block. This of course will be changing when Toriko takes over Kai's time slot this April in Japan.

It was last year that FUNimation was part of its future sale from Navarre in late May. It's future is in the plummet drain.

So will Kai's future be gutted? Only time will tell.

DRAGON BALL KAI TIMESLOT TO TORIKO, NEW LOGO FOR SITE, EXTRAS

First of, after months of breaks, here at Silver Shenron, I have unveiled the new logo to represent the image we have in our new slogan: "Dragon Ball's Very Own Fansite". I will fix it up within the winter months in the sleeky new look.

For those in the know, Daizenshuu EX reports via ANN that an upcoming issue of Weekly Shônen Jump reveals that a full TV adaptation of the manga Toriko will debut on Fuji TV in April 2011 in the 9:00 am time slot, which is immediately before One Piece at 9:30 am, and is currently held by Dragon Ball Kai. It is unkown whether Kai moves to its new slot.

The series is set to run up to at least 98 episodes, as stated on Happinet's official release website. With episode 86 of Kai airing this weekend, the final Cell arc episode of the series will air sometime near the end of March 2011, However, Happinet's current release schedule extends through at least episode 98, which would likely be the end of the "Jinzôningen/Artificial Human & Cell Arc" currently airing on TV.

There has been no confirmation yet from either Fuji TV or Toei Animation as to what exactly will happen to DB Kai. There seems to be only three options at this point; the series will be relocated to a different time slot on Fuji TV, the series will be put on a long-term hiatus, or the series will be canceled all together.

FUNimation, on the other hand, has already turfed up the DBZKai series. Whether the Majin Buu arc goes through , it'll happen soon.

Finally, "My 18th Magic", performed by cAnON., played on the radio in the background of a scene with the Son family and Kuririn driving along, shortly before it is announced that the army is about to take on Cell and "Seru Gêmu no Oshirase" ("News of the Cell Game"), performed by Kenji Ôtsuki, played during Cell's retaliation against the army, which are two Dragon Ball Kai insert songs. "Battle of Omega", performed by Hironobu Kageyama and is the opening theme to the franchise's most recent video game, Raging Blast 2 for the PS3 and 360 with the cover available. TIDBITS: RAGING BLAST 2, NEW MERCHANDISE, SOUNDTRACK, AND MORE

It's been a while since I updated this site, but I want to share some breakdowns:

Firstly, there is a recent change that there will be a remake for Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku (Dragon Ball Z Side Story: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans) which is completely reconstructed, re-scripted, and re-edited version of an original Japanese OVA that has never been released in North America or Europe. It will be under Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, which hits the shelves this November for $59.99, with the Japanese release due exactly one week later for ¥7,329.

"Re: the portion of the Eradicate the Super Saiyans OVA on the Namco Bandai Raging Blast 2 game - not ours,Toei's in Japanese w/Eng sub."

What's this mean? FUNimation's Twitter said that the dub isn't ready yet. That basically leaves the door open for a later release that would involve an English dub, in years.

The 4th US Dragon Box is slated to be relased on September 21st, rather 14th in spite of some gritty retailers.

With no guts no glory to tell, Kokoro no Hane has since been released and there is a upcoming OST for the Artificial Human/Cell arc on September 22, 2010 worth of ¥2940, and is also available via the usual sources like CDJapan and Amazon Japan named Dragon Ball Kai Soundtrack III & Songs.

Finally, Kanzentai reports that there is a now-confirmed-as-an-animanga adaption  of the 2008 Jump Super Anime Tour Special. Shueisha has finally unveiled the new cover art for the book, which is now released for ¥730.

APPARENTLY, SOULJA BOY TELL'EM LOOKS LIKE GOKU

As discussed on the Daizenshuu EX thread, people can think that guy is look like Goku since his song was released of July 22, 2010 for his mixtape "Death Note". This mixtape is by DeAndre Cortez Way, that who goes by the name of Soulja Boy Tell'em, which he was known for releasing Crank Dat 3 years ago. Now technically, he deliberately re-used that name for the manga series, but you guys might have to loathe him.

It has two songs (Anime and Goku) that reference Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Ginyu Tokusentai (Special-Squad), Karin-sama, Kame-sennin, Chi-Chi, and Super Saiyan (Dragon Ball); Pikachu (Pokemon); Cowboy Bebop; Death Note; Case Closed (Detective Conan); Bleach; Naruto; Full Metal Alchemist; Afro Samurai; and Inuyasha.

With the future of the manga/anime industry in it's palms, I think this garbage rap turned deadly, but the beat is catchy and cool, IMO. KnowYourMeme.org has the thing posted up by my forum buddy Godo, although the thread was started by Super Ghost Kamikaze posted it from Geekosystem.com.

Anime News Network is reporting that Son Goku will appear at the second annual Thai Anime Song Contest, a Japanese/Thai cultural exchange event and will feature a costumed-version of him. It will be held this weekend on July 24th and 25th in Bangkok. Fans may get the opportunity to sing CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA, WE GOTTA POWER, or Dragon Soul so you can dance around with Goku :).

As we know Tetsuo Mizutori has died at the age of 71 based off from Daizenshuu EX's post, he was known for playing Salt in the Garlic Jr. arc. However, he is probably more widely known for his roles in the Kinnikuman series.

FREEZA AND CO. RECAST, BRIEF TIDBITS

As I saw the clip here and here, Freeza is now portayed by Chris Ayres (I'm sure you guys know he voiced Sergei Ovchinnikov from Detective Conan/Case Closed and 3G from Sgt. Frog). Weird how he sounded like Pauline Newstone (from the 1996 dub). I'm assure his voice sounded close to Ryusei Nakao's..

In other Freeza-related news, Dodoria is now played by John Swasey who replaced Chris Forbis (anime) and Mike McFarland (Raging Blast) and Zarbon, which he is now voiced by J. Michael Tartum (replaced Chris Sabat). As far as I know, there are a number of re-cast in the series like Cell who is now voiced by Travis Willingham (as you know and heard him from Raging Blast).

Kanzentai reported that the latest series book will be called TV Anime Ultimate Guide "Dragon Ball Extreme Battle Collection" Round 01: Boyhood arc - Freeza arc. This book covers the whole story from the Son Goku arc to the Freeza arc (you may called this "Saga" if you want). The 96-page book will be a B6 size, same size as the DBGT Perfect Files and the Super Exciting Guides. It is published by Shueisha and will be available on July 2, 2010. But i'll get that another time as i'm always short of change.

Tullece, Janempa, and Dabra will be on Raging Blast 2 as playable characters. But later this summer, I will be posting up my Kokoro no Hane (Dragon Ball Kai Ending #2 theme) review soon and it will feature how AKB48 was made.

NAVARRE DIPS DOWN 15% ON THEIR OWN ANIME CHAIN, FUNIMATION

Anime News Network is reporting on Friday that anime sales "declined as a result of a weaker release schedule". At some point, it may affect the Dragon Ball franchise and DVD releases in the coming months. Navarre released the Q4 fiscal results for FUNimation, Encore, and BCI bought the net sales of US$18.8 million less than 15% compared to last year unlike the Q3 which Navarre increased in 50% on software as anime sales did back in Q3. They had 6% of operating income (profit minus operating expenses) of 68% and a decrease in debt from US$24.1 million to US$6.6 million, as well as about 73%.

Also stated, Navarre will classify FUNimation as a "discontinue operation" for their reference of the company's pending sale in the fiscal year of 2011 as I posted on the May 27th post (see bottom). FUNimation will remain in normal operation until a sale goes through.

FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT FOR SALE?

There can be no assurances that this process will result in the consummation of a transaction.

"Navarre is pursuing a more focused strategy. Now that we have substantially reduced debt and improved operating margins, we are focusing our efforts on driving revenue, particularly in new product lines. We are concentrating all efforts on our distribution and software publishing businesses where we have significant expertise and considerable systems and physical assets that can be leveraged. The Punch! acquisition announced last week strengthens our software publishing business and demonstrates a step in our execution of this strategy," stated Cary L. Deacon, Chief Executive Officer.

FUNimation Entertainment's strategy and capital requirements are distinctly different from those of the Company's core business. While FUNimation's recent results have generally met expectations, the strategies required to grow the business include co-productions of original anime content, social networks and digital broadcasting. The Company anticipates that those plans are best executed with ownership that has assets or expertise in those areas.

The Company will be discussing its going-forward strategy and financial outlook in greater detail next week in connection with its FY 2010 year end conference call. That conference call is scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m. ET, Friday, June 4, 2010.

What is this mean? It's fate will be unknown. However, they started licensing Dragon Ball Kai back in February 2010 and they put it this company on sale? They just started airing Kai on TV a few days ago on NickToons. Back in May 2005, Navarre acquired FUNimation and became the largest anime industry in North America known for the popular Dragon Ball franchise, One Piece, Soul Eater, Full Metal Alchemist (FMA); Brotherhood, and so on... In June 2009, FUNimation cleaned up 46% of their employee line due to their economic recession.

Speaking of it, Daizenshuu EX learned last year that the Dragon Ball franchise gave it's five-year extension and will last through 2015. At some point, if they go on sale, the license stays with them ever since they acquired the license back in 1994 when the company was founded by Gen Fukanaga. REVEALED: DRAGON BALL RAGING BLAST 2 CONFIRMED

As many fans know, Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 is offically out. A V-Jump magazine scan recently shows that it will be out sometime 2010 (maybe Halloween) The video posted by YouTube user SaiyanTeam2 that it will be released on PS3 and XBOX 360 consoles.

God, if I have the game, I would've get both DBRB and DBRB2 at the same time. weird ^_^.....

NEW YORK, Apr 26, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 4Kids Entertainment (KDE  1.11, -0.04, -3.48%)  has reached agreement with FUNimation Entertainment and Toei Animation Co., Ltd., to license the U.S. broadcast television rights to the new animated television series "Dragon Ball Z Kai".

Sneak peeks of "Dragon Ball Z Kai" will be seen this summer before the series premieres as a regularly scheduled program on TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block during the 2010-2011 broadcast season. 4Kids will also have "Dragon Ball Z Kai" episodes available for streaming on its popular www.4kids.tv and www.4kidstv.com websites.

Dragon Ball is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump published by Shueisha Inc. from 1984 through 1995. Inspired by the Chinese folk novel Journey to the West, it follows the adventures of Son Goku from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven mystical objects -- known as the Dragon Balls -- which can summon a wish-granting dragon.

As part of the series' 20th anniversary celebration in 2009, in a project overseen by its creator, Akira Toriyama, Shueisha and Toei Animation remastered the "Dragon Ball Z" series for HDTV, re-edited the series, updated its opening and ending sequences, rerecorded the vocal tracks by most of the original cast, and launched the newly named "Dragon Ball Kai" on Japanese television in April 2009. The series currently rates among the top five animated programs on Japanese television.

Oddball isn't it? Kai isn't just airing on Nicktoons for being an oddball, it'll air sometime in 2010-2011. But it has a history when it aired on Cartoon Network (even YTV). 4Kids (the company who's responsible for the Pokemon anime, thanks for the tip guys) might stream their episodes online but even FUNi (having such a successful empire of Internet-broadcasting partner agreements) will stream the series themselves just like they did to One Piece, which is Japanese and English. Strangely, it's not the first time Cartoon Network competed in 1999. It is unknown when the Dragon Ball series aired on YTV in Canada, email me silverplaquevii@hotmail.com to get the first Dragon Ball runs from beginning to end.

Like I was saying, DBZKai will start airing on Nicktoons @ 8:00 pm EDT on May 24th with the DVD Release by FUNimation uncut on May 18th (with the Japanese track). In addition Kai is currently airing on Fuji TV since April 5, 2009 at 9:00 am UTC+9 (8:00 pm EDT, Toronto) time and still airs with One Piece as part of Fuji TV's Dream 9 lineup.

"KAI" REMAKE FOR DRAGON BALL GT?

There are rumors circulating that one comment on the YouTube video stated (and based from the Daizenshuu EX forum member ringworm128) that there will be a potential remake for Dragon Ball GT known as "Dragon Ball GT Kai". Somewhat, DBGT may be a non-manga series, but i'll bet it will give a chance it'll fail in HD when Toei gives the guts about it.

Purely, DBGT is 100% filler but compact. However, it maybe a "start from scratch" ground-up, Toei can doubt they'll think about it somehow in the near future. But for now, Dragon Ball Kai is already a DBZ Remake, edited to follow the manga.

DRAGON BALL KAI'S NEW ENDING, KAI IN NA TIDBITS, DB MOVIE 1 + MORE

As my dawg Kei17 (Daizenshuu EX's Japanese forum correspondent), the new Dragon Ball Kai's ending will be making it's mark on Episode #55 on 2010/05/02 as stated on the new issue of Jump Magazine. Somewhat, it will be performed by the band they called "Team Dragon" which is made up of members from the idol group AKB48, which itself is comprised of seven members.

No closing can't be revealed. but "Yeah Break! Care Break!" will last on Episode #54. As stated by Kei17, it noting that Minami Takahashi, the "leader" of this "Team Dragon", has fans that claim she is "real" fan and even refers to the series frequently on her blog.

At some point, I never post any news since last month. But I will give you guys some quick tidbits: When FUNimation Entertainment will be dubbing Dragon Ball Kai into English for a North American release, under the release title of Dragon Ball Z Kai. Check it out.

Navarre revealed during its Q3 2010 earnings conference call, on the morning of February 2nd, that its North American anime distributor FUNimation has licensed the Dragon Ball Kai fighting anime series for release in the "latter part of the upcoming fiscal year." However, it is re-titled Dragon Ball Z Kai (ドラゴンボールZ改 「カイ」; Doragon Boru Zetto Kai). FUNimation has confirmed the license with ANN, and it hopes to provide more details soon. Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1, Part 1 will be released on May 18th, 2010. The cast for Dragon Ball Z Kai will be mostly the same as Z except with a few re-casts. Nicktoons has announced that it will air Dragon Ball Z Kai starting May 24, 2010. A promo for the show has already started showing on the channel.

Note to the contrary, there are some minor sophisticated changes:

It is clear to see all traces of blood have been removed from Bardock's face. At some point there are more direct censorships:

I hate to disappoint you, but I like hanging out with my friends this much and this? Bardock's scar is removed and Kame-sennin's poorly beer is white, trust me. Look back in the Saban-edited DBZ in 1996 with his beer is essentially blue. And now what? Maybe the death will go sideways to the "the next dimension"? This idea was swayed in when the uncut editions however, with the edited version being produced exclusively for Nicktoons, rather than a simultaneous home release alongside an uncut version. It is important to note that the home releases on DVD and Blu-ray will be fully "unedited", and that word (finally) holds true for even the dialogue on the English dub side of things now that the series is being treated the way it is. Furthermore, the original Japanese version will always be there intact. Leave it to the pros.

Lastly, The only Dragon Ball property to have yet to be released uncut in North America is Curse of the Blood Rubies (AKA The Legend of Shenlong). However, the LionsGate/Trimark license war has been shed into pieces since 1995. Luckily on July 17, 2009, Funimation announced that Curse of the Blood Rubies will be released uncut and will possibly be featured with one of the season sets. On April 6, 2010, FUNimation announced it will be released uncut to Region 1 DVD on July 27, 2010. But it was moved to December 28, 2010 for $14.98 MSRP at RightStuf.
