Race Guide
The characters that build up the large framework of the series. Dividing them into races/tribes, we'll discuss their abilities and unique characteristics. The thoroughly observed life-forms from the entire universe are now explained here. As well there are various species throughout the manga/anime series.
SAIYANS
One of the series' endangered race of extraterrestrials in the Dragon Ball universe. In the series, the Saiyans are a naturally aggressive warrior race who were supposedly the strongest warriors in the universe. Nearly all of the Saiyans were obliterated by Freeza, thus they are functionally extinct. The Saiyans play a central role in the Dragon Ball series once it is revealed that the protagonist, Son Goku, is actually a Saiyan sent to destroy Earth.
HUMANS AND ANIMALS
Earthlings are the main inhabitants of planet Earth in Dragon Ball. They share the planet with the other main intelligent lifeforms, including anthropomorphic animals. In fact, they are lead by an anthropomorphic dog named King Koku. With the exception of the uncommon hair colors and occasionally odd features (ranging from longer lifespans to werewolfism), Dragon Ball humans are identical to their real-life counterparts. Humans in Dragon Ball seem to be able to utilize or be affected by certain elements of magic. Toriyama himself has admitted to lack of forethought or planning when it comes to the details of Dragon Ball's story, which accounts for some of the strange occurrences.
There are a variety of animals seen through out the series. The two most recurring animal characters are are Puar and Oolong. In the series, it is not unusual to see anthropomorphic animals living among humans as city residents.

NAMEKIANS
Based from the planet Namek, they are humanoid with insect and reptilian-like characteristics, including green skin and antennae. Nameks are philosophical warriors, being broadly divided into two classes: fighters and healers. They are among the most important races in the series. In the original Japanese versions of the manga, they were known as Mazokus who had varying humanoid and animal-like features, and were of more Earthly origin.

ANDROIDS (JINZONINGEN / ARTIFICIAL HUMANS)
Androids (Jinzoningen) are robotic/cyborg humans, most of them created by the evil scientist Dr. Gero. Most of the androids are said to have unlimited energy and have eternal life. They also have no aura unlike Saiyans, Humans, and others.

MAJIN (BABIDI AND FOLLOWERS)
A group who showed the world absolute evil through the existence of Majin Buu. They delight in killing people through mysterious powers, and plot to destroy the world.

FREEZA'S RACE (COLD FAMILY AND FOLLOWERS)
A gang headed by Freeza that attacked numerous planets one after the other, then sold them off. Together they possess cruel personalities that delight in obsessively killing, to the point that they are insatiable. Began by Chilled, the group has notoriety and apparently run by King Cold and his two sons, Freeza and Coola. The group employs and enslaves powerful races such as the Saiyans, to take over suitable planets so that they can be sold to the highest bidders.

AFTERLIFE PEOPLE (KAIO AND KAIOSHIN)
People of the Heavenly Realm, who exist in every region of the universe. Once the area that they supervise is decided, their duty is to always watch over that area. There are five Kaios for each galaxy. Four of them are given the job of controlling a particular quadrant of the galaxy each, and overseeing the local deities. Kaioshins are also an afterlife race with godly powers. They far outclass the regular "Kaios" and have the ultimate duty to protect the universe from terror and destruction.
