Frieza Saga
The Frieza Saga is the second major plot arc of the anime Dragon Ball Z (after the Captain Ginyu and before the Garlic Jr. Saga). In FUNimation's naming conventions for the English language release of the anime, the Freeza Saga is broken up into five sub-sagas: the Namek Saga, the Captain Ginyu Saga, Frieza Saga, Garlic Jr. Saga, and the Trunks Saga. as this page refers specifically to the events in the third sub-saga.
Nearly all of the Frieza Saga takes place on the Planet Namek. The main plot is the fight against Freeza by Kuririn, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo and Goku. It has been speculated that the original Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama, originally intended to end the series with the Frieza Saga, with a major symbolic event which would provide closure to the series. However, despite some fan response that the series was losing momentum, the popularity of the series was high enough that the series continued.
In Japan, this saga aired in 1990 and 1991. The 31-episode season originally ran from January to September 1991 in Japan on Fuji Television. The first English airing of the series was on Cartoon Network where Funimation Entertainment's dub of the series ran from September to November 1999. The episodes also aired in Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. This is the first part of US season 3. This saga comprises the FUNimation Remastered Season Three Box Set.

Even though Nail can't continue to fight in his own body, he can continue to fight by combining with Piccolo in a Namekian fusion technique! Will Piccolo, now united with Nail, arrive on the battlefield in time to stop Frieza's diabolical plans to destroy all the inhabitants of Namek?

GOHAN ATTACKS
By transforming into a giant, Frieza has gained much more power. Frieza's first victim is Krillin. After seeing his friend attacked, Gohan loses control of himself and unleashes a furious attack on Frieza. Though he is strong, he is not strong enough to stop Frieza, who pounds the inexperienced young warrior.
(NOTE: The two episodes were originally edited together for broadcast on Cartoon Network due to the excessive graphic nature (and length) of a particular scene in which Kuririn is impaled by Freeza with one of his horns. Obviously, the DVD was presented uncut. As far as I know, this is why "three" English episodes are listed alongside the four original uncut Japanese episodes.)
