Bruce Elliott (Dragon Ball Kai)The captain of Freeza's trump card, the Ginyu Special-Squad. He boasts the greatest strength out of all Freeza's underlings, including the Ginyu Special-Squad, and what's more is one of the few men who pure-heartedly reveres Freeza. On the other hand he's also as jolly as he is super-duper strong, and does things like think up the choreography for strange poses. He's shown to be very loyal to his men and to Freeza, and follows any order he gives him. However, he also can be quite harsh to his team members if they fail a mission and escaping from the fight as well as his fairness in his battles. His battle power is 120,000.

Captain Ginyu transfers the Dragon Balls back to Freeza, but the two almost instantly discover that they can't activate the artifacts to summon its Eternal Dragon, Polunga. Remembering one of his previous Namek victims whose last words told of how Freeza could never make a wish even with the seven Dragon Balls gathered, Freeza deduces that there must be a secret Namek language custom used to activate them. The tyrant uses his scouter  to investigate the vicinity for Nameks, finding some in an area that his forces left untouched. Captain Ginyu volunteers to force the secret out of them, but Freeza declines in favor of handling the task himself. In the meantime, Captain Ginyu is assigned to watch over the seven Dragon Balls.

He performed Body Change each time he met a strong opponent, and so only a few people know his original form. His technique was used when he learned that Goku was stronger than him. After that he tried to change with Vegeta as well, but thanks to Goku's fast thinking he became a frog.

After becoming a frog, he Body Changed with Bulma. He then went after Piccolo's body, but failed and became a frog once more. It seems that as a frog, he came to live in the greenhouse at Bulma's home. It is never revealed what becomes of the frog whose soul is within Ginyu's shell, save for one scene where he hops around the Earth forest where Polunga evacuates the people of Namek to. Ginyu makes infrequent appearances in later episodes as a frog, such as outside a window at Goku's house during Gohan's 11th birthday, or when he is picked up by a Great Saiyaman-disguised Gohan, after an attempt by Sharpner  to unmask him.

In the end, Ginyu is ultimately killed when Kid Buu destroys the Earth. He makes his final appearance in Dragon Ball Z down in Hell, after having apparently been reunited with his body, where he watches the fight between Goku and Kid Buu through a crystal ball along with Ogres and fellow Dragon Ball villains. He is shown again in the Super 17 Saga of Dragon Ball GT, but he is defeated again and sent back to Hell thanks to Dr. Gero and Dr. Myu opened the portal.

Note to the fact Captain Ginyu's "Character Introduction" biography in the Budokai Tenkaichi/Sparking! video game series states that Ginyu has used the Body Change technique numerous times in his career, and that his humanoid appearance in Dragon Ball Z is the result of a previous Body Change, rather than Ginyu's original shell. However, this is debatable, as after dying in the body of a Namekian frog (the product of an awry Body Change), Captain Ginyu assumes this form during his stay in Hell. It may be possible, however, that this body was simply his prefered one, the one he'd stayed in for the most time (even longer than the frog), or that the animators wanted to ensure he was reconized easily by the viewers.
