The Test of Joseph

we are tested with the test of Joseph

for the sake of the coming global dialogue

sitting at the table of God and Adam

first the sword of Joseph

then the scepter of Judah

this is the covenant of Hashem's mercy to Abraham

 Hashem's mercy will be our cutting peace

the pruning of the world

its salvation

i will speak to your understanding

about the pattern of Joseph

the recurring pattern of the ages

about בחינה יוסף

about the covenant of God

that turns the world inside out and upside down

i will speak to you and to yours

not to those whose intelligence is artificial

i will speak to your understanding

in poetic phrases

you who have ears to hear

about Avraham, the soul of Yosef

about Avraham who is one

about Yosef whose soul is corporate

and who somewhere said to his brothers

if you would follow me

down into exile in covenant gracefulness

where the fox runs upon the Temple ruins

to the place of confession for the sin of the Adam

to the place of corporate repentance and hope

to see the Temple hovering above her place

you must follow me down freely into the pit

for the sake of the joy that is set before you

from there in the pit you'll see

the seed of Avraham like the stars

because the serpent said, God knows,

dying you will not die,

and through all the resurrected seed of Avraham

enumerable like the stars

God will destroy the serpent's lie

but what was the God of Israel thinking?

to cut off that headship of Adam

and save the body with an anointed other

a head who was only in God's own mind

and so cut the lying tongue in two?

for in the beginning

the collective many did not come before the

corporate one

for you will not follow a multitude to do sin

for Hashem made them one flesh

now in the pattern of redemption

the test of Joseph

the many came first

and threw the one into the pit

understand this well

the seed of the woman belongs to its creator

though Adam is cut off

the God of Israel has created a new thing in the earth

a woman was made to surround a man

the  collective many

was made to surround the corporate one

understand this well

for this reason Avraham left his father and mother

and united with Sarah

and Yitzchak listened to the voice of his wife

and Yaakov built his house with grace in exile

but Yosef, after pasturing his flock

in the valley of death

spoke faithfully of the resurrection of All-Israel

whispering to Moshe, and praying to Israel's God,

bring them up together with my bones
