Poem of The Universal Commandment

Open your mind with silence.

Let your lips breathe with the sound of awe

toward the One who created the Garden of Eden

for Humanity.

Imitate the attributes of your Creator,

who breathed his commandment

into Adam's nostrils,

who breathed again his commandment

into Israel,

as the nostrils of Adam,

to bring him back from the dead.

Return mercy and justice and faithfulness

for coldhearted injustice and unfaithfulness.

In the darkness where you have caused and suffered

abuse and loss,

reveal the light of righteousness and charity.

In an environment sliding into depravity, cruelty

and thirst for blood,

demonstrate the light of kindness toward all living things.

Return justice, and love!

And the Presence of God,

the God of Jerusalem,

will come to dwell in your house

and comfort you forever.
